On average, our hands carry 3200 different germs belonging to more than 150 species - of which some can be harmful and infectious. Considering how we constantly touch our Mahjong tiles for a long period of time, they are bound to become dirty and sticky. We can be certain that your Mahjong tiles have not been cleaned ever since you bought and unwrapped it.

But no worries as we got just the right advice for you.

All you need is a piece of dry towel and some rubbing alcohol. Simply dab a bit of the alcohol solution on the towel and rub your Mahjong tiles with care. Remember not to use a rubbing alcohol solution that is high in concentration as it can rub the paint off easily. Some alternatives can be baby wipes or alcohol swabs. These are highly recommended as they can be easily found at your home.

On the other hand, there are some precautions to take note of when cleaning your Mahjong tiles. One of which is you should never scrub your tiles with a brush as the paint will come off. Always treat your tiles with care and who knows, they might even give you more luck in return.

For automatic Mahjong tiles especially, never wash them in a dishwasher or put them all in a bucket. The reason is because your automatic Mahjong tiles are slightly magnetic and the method mentioned may affect its magnetism. Hence, your tiles will lose its magnetism and be rendered obsolete whereby you will have to get new tiles.
